Plenty of great talents have worn a Husker uniform, but quarterback Taylor Martinez now sits above them all in terms of most offense produced.

The junior broke Eric Crouch’s school record for career total yardage on a 33-yard second-quarter completion to Kenny Bell on Saturday.

“Some people on the sidelines came up and told me congratulations,” Martinez said. “I think it’s awesome, because so many great people came through Nebraska and it’s just an honor to pass them up. I couldn’t have done it without my coaches, my teammates. My dad has a huge part in this. I’m really honored.”

Martinez now has 8,166 yards in his Husker career. His 5,161 passing yards are just 689 behind the school career record set by Zac Taylor from 2005-06.
