I watched the first half of the Dallas Cowboy game last night … and they played pretty well.  But as the half drew to a close, one of the announcers commented: For the night, Tony Romo went 9-of-13 for 198 yards and two touchdowns, good for a passer rating of 151.4—awfully close to the perfect rating of 158.3.

Is it just me … or couldn’t we devise a system that everyone can understand … like perfect being 100?!  And even I know that 9 of 13 is 69%, which when I was teaching was pretty close to a failing grade.

I mean is it possible with this goofy rating system to achieve a perfect rating and still not complete 100% of your passes?  I suppose so … someone has to earn a living coming up with goofy stats!
