This past Sunday evening I did a few things I cannot remember doing … one I did long ago … the other never.

Long ago I attended a professional wrestling show … think it was at Pershing Auditorium in Lincoln, NE.  But this past Sunday I went as a guest of Jimmy Curtis to a WWE House show at the 4-States Fairground.  Jimmy, who has been around the fairground for years as a board member … and was the son of a professional ‘rassler’ says it may have been the largest crowd he’s seen there (4500 give or take).

We sat in the VIP section … away from the masses … and enjoyed talking and watching this event … what a hoot!

Back home we were treated to some homemade deep-dish pizza … and the Curtis’ family brought me a six-pack of Southern Pecan Nut Brown Ale.

From their website: Southern Pecan Nut Brown Ale is the first beer in the world, to our knowledge, made with whole roasted pecans. The pecans are used just like grain and provide a nutty characteristic and a delightful depth to the flavor profile. This beer is very lightly hopped to allow the malty, caramel, and nutty flavors shine through. The color is dark mahogany. Southern Pecan won a Bronze Medal in the 2006 World Beer Cup in the Specialty Beer category.

I was a bit leery … but it was a wonderful brew … and look forward to enjoying the others.  And … while In Dallas the past few days … I built my own 6-pack of additional adult beverages and look forward to sampling and writing!
