Tonight I will be mixing two new things.  One is a pizza from a place that just opened a few blocks away from the house.  Marco’s turns out to be a chain … even with a place opening soon in Bedford, TX where I own a house … and lots of other places scattered around the country.

They are running a special … large 2-topping for $8.99.  So, I will try their sausage and mushroom … and see how good it is.

To wash it down, I will go back to my sampler pack from Real Ale Brewing in Blanco, TX.  Tonight’s choice is Brewhouse Brown Ale.  Their description says: “It pours a caramel brown with a hint of chocolate, Brewhouse Brown melds four kinds of malt and American hops into a delicious dark ale. Rich and roasty, yet with a dry finish, it is the perfect companion for a hearty meal.”

As for my review …

PIZZA: Normally our pizza is a frozen store bought that is doctored up a bitThe cost of these pizzas is 50% of what you pay at a chain like Pizza Hut or Domino’s.  But, still, this was a pretty good pizza … good dough crust, a nice sauce taste, lots of cheese, and a liberal amount of Italian sausage and mushrooms.  Better than most … but coming from Chicago area … Texas has a way to go to come up with a great pizza.

BREWHOUSE BROWN: Very smooth and well done and is drinkable despite its dark color and robust flavor. It is a dark beer for those who so not particularly enjoy something heavier like a stout or porter (like me).  I would take another of these any time!
